Looking back…and moving forward

Please consider becoming part of all this good work in our own communities

2024 December

2024 is almost over and it is a great time for us to look back and move forward into 2025.

The mission of Trial Lawyers’ Charities is simple: Make a difference in our communities. Sometimes those impacts can be big, and sometimes they can change just one life.

For OCTLC, we participated in large impact projects like beach cleanups with CoastKeepers, the walk at Disneyland for Children’s Hospital of Orange County, and clothing drives for Micah’s Way. We helped build a home for Habitat for Humanity and volunteered with groups like Free Rein (an organization providing horse therapy to veterans and youth in Huntington Beach). We fed hundreds of individuals through Second Harvest Food Bank.

LATLC had a very busy year with monthly service projects like Mother’s Day with Bresee Foundation, Fourth of July with Ronald McDonald House (and thanks to CAALA picnic attendees, we brought nine boxes of canned goods to fill their kitchen), KidSave Summer Party for foster teens to meet potential forever families, and, of course, our Signature Events. LATLC’s annual “Comfort & Joy” holiday event provided groceries, household items and thousands of toys to 500 South Los Angeles families in need. Our fourth Day of Dignity for the unhoused in Hollywood was extraordinary. Here is just one reaction:

“As an outreach worker, I am often faced with well-meaning but soul-less and surface charity. That is never the case with you deep thinkers. For the past two days I have once again been deluged by gratitude from those your Day of Dignity served. The running theme seemed to be how well people were treated. Respect is never in short supply with you. So many were thrilled with the vaccinations. One told me that there is so much illness around him in shelters, he feels more confident to use shelter services now that he is vaccinated.”

Working together has been wonderful for OCTLC and LATLC. Thirty-eight children with special needs are now able to play with their friends on their new adaptive tricycles – all because of your support of The Great Tryke Giveaway!

Another charity that both OCTLC and LATLC support is Triumph Foundation. This year, Andrew Skinner, President of Triumph Foundation sent a note of gratitude for the work of OCTLC at the Superheroes 5K held in Irvine where dozens of participants rolled, ran, or walked the 5k in superhero gear:

I loved your booth this year with the backdrop that said, “Gotta look superhero good - with free swag.” It was a super success, and we couldn’t have done it without you and your crew. Thank you so much.

Every year, OCTLC and LATLC host a volunteer project in our joint booth at the CAALA convention. This year, hundreds of attendees drew on cloth squares for quilts that are being donated to CASA Los Angeles and CASA Orange County. They will be used to comfort babies and toddlers going through the court system.

It’s your support that does all of this

We are only able to do all this because of your support. Join OCTLC and LATLC’s Honorary Board by making a donation before the end of 2024 and you will be eligible to be on our respective websites throughout 2025.

LATLC also has an opportunity where you can make automatic monthly donations: JEWEL CIRCLES. We have updated the circles, so you now receive far more benefits and sponsorships than if you donated separately (Ruby for $5,000 per month, Topaz for $3,000 per month, and Amber for $1,500 monthly). We also have the G.E.M. program (Give Every Month) for only $84 per month, which makes you an immediate Bronze Member of our Honorary Board. To learn more contact Lissa Zanville (lissa@latlc.org).

But however you support OCTLC or LATLC, you are helping trial lawyers make a difference in the community and move forward to a brighter 2025.
