2024 June

June is a great month for kids. As Alice Cooper famously sang, “No more pencils, no more books. No more teachers, dirty looks… School’s out for summer!”

But for Trial Lawyers’ Charities, June is just the start of activities specifically aimed at helping children in need throughout our communities. LATLC and OCTLC have five focus areas: Education, Survivors of Abuse, Persons with Disabilities, Homelessness, and Children.

Orange County

Orange County Trial Lawyers’ Charities will begin the summer by sorting food at the Second Harvest Food Bank on June 11. At least one in 11 children in our community is at risk of hunger, according to the latest data from Feeding America. When school is out, more kids go to bed hungry. We will be sorting and packing food for families. You can sign up to join us at https://vhub.at/octriallawersc.

OCTLC will then participate in the Children’s Hospital of Orange County (CHOC) Walk at Disneyland on July 21, all in support of children’s health and well-being. Proceeds from this magical event will support healthcare programs, education, and research at CHOC and CHOC at Mission Hospitals.

Los Angeles

Los Angeles Trial Lawyers’ Charities have children-focused volunteer projects all summer also. On June 30, volunteers will decorate the dining area and serve lunch at Ronald McDonald’s House across the street from Children’s Hospital Los Angeles. Families can stay there for months while their child is being treated at this wonderful hospital. This will be a Fourth of July party with a lot of red, white and blue!

LATLC will then hold our third volunteer event with KidSave, an incredible group that creates opportunities for older children in foster care to connect with adoptive families and life-long mentors. In the past, LATLC held Halloween and Earth Day themed events. This year, we will design six different summer activities where the teens can meet, informally, with potential forever families. Volunteers (must be over 18 years old) will host the stations and serve lunch.

The Great Tryke Giveaway

But our biggest event comes later in the summer. On July 27, LATLC and OCTLC will co-host the 2024 Great Tryke Giveaway. Thanks to our supporters, we raised enough money to present 38 new adaptive tricycles this year to children with intellectual and physical disabilities in Los Angeles and Orange County. This is our joint Signature Event with games, crafts, food, and a huge parade with all the new Trykers! We just opened sponsorships for this event which will take place at Bancroft Middle School in Long Beach. (https://TRYKE24.givesmart.com). More about the Great Tryke Giveaway next month.

But for now, school’s out for summer!
